Melbourne garage pop four-piece Girlatones return on Valentine's Day, Feb 14, with 'Respond to Love', the second single from their new album Horn if You're Honky, out March 20 on Lost And Lonesome and Meritorio Records of Spain.
Following on the heels of first single 'Get to the End' which displayed a more melancholic, introspective side to Girlatones, the band now strike back with a one-minute-fifty-second slice of straight-to-the-heart sunny bubblegum pop.
Recorded live in a Thornbury living room, the new single explores the nature of human connection and how we bind together through shared experience. Voices, guitars and bass repeat a catchy melody throughout the song, strengthening the lyrical hook by falling happily into unison.
Starting out as a songwriting vehicle for multi-instrumentalist Jesse Wiliams, Girlatones soon grew with the addition of folk singer-songwriter Leah Senior, followed by the rhythm section of Tam Matlakowski and Fabian Hunter Shaw whose combined musical CVs boast a mind boggling array of Melbourne bands including TV, Pop Singles, The Stevens, Permits, Way Dynamic, Chube Screamer, Baby Blue and China Beach.
