Art Fin Great debut by a beat-heavy, punk-disco/dance-punk/new wave band from Australia that reminds me of A Certain Ratio, ESG, Tom Tom Club and The Rapture but not too much like any one of those. They have created a new, interesting sound. Favorite track: First Kiss.

about

'First Kiss' is the debut single from recently formed Melbourne band Pregnancy.

Conceived by Zac Denton of The Ocean Party, Pregnancy highlights a cast of members from Totally Mild, Ciggie Witch, Cool Sounds and Arthur Penn and the Funky Ten.

Inspired by disco-infused, post-punk of the late 70s to early 80s, 'First Kiss' combines lush synths with angular guitar and a four-to-the-floor groove that brings to mind the rock solid rhythm section of Talking Heads’ Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz.

Lyrically, the song explores themes of independence and progress. Denton sings about challenging times that have ultimately lead to growth and empowerment. This sentiment is conveyed through the perfect partnership of Denton’s strong and steady vocal melody and the thoughtfully interwoven harmonies of Ashley Bundang.
