about

Stories with the Endings Changed is the brand-new album from Melbourne (via-Ballarat) combo Bart & Friends and is available now on CD and tantalising 10" vinyl!

A veteran of early-90s bands like The Cat's Miaow, Hydroplane and The Shapiros, Bart Cummings is a hero to us here at Lost And Lonesome and living proof that heartfelt indiepop is alive and well and as charmingly bashful as ever. After a decade's absence from the music scene, Bart & Friends resurfaced with last year's brilliant Make You Blush mini-album which featured a new bunch of Friends and shared-vocals with Bart's former Shapiros bandmate Pam Berry (also of Black Tambourine, The Pines, etc, etc).

This time around for Stories With the Endings Changed Bart summoned Scott Stevens (Summer Cats, Earthmen) to lend a hand with vocals while the band again consists of Mark Monnone and Louis Richter (Lucksmiths, Mid-State Orange) with the addition of Jeremy Cole (Zebras) on drums and Irene Drossinos (Summer Cats) on organ and backing vocals. Working at Bart's typical no-nonsense pace with producer James Dean, the result is nine concise songs of undiluted melodicism and sterling straight-through-the-heart pop hooks.
